After graduating from University of Calgary in 2000 with her Bachelor of Commerce, Carma Ainsworth CPA, CA achieved her Chartered Accountant Designation in 2002 while articling at a small firm in Stettler, Alberta. There she focused on construction as well as agricultural clients, and was heavily involved with the firm’s in-house training for personal tax.

Upon moving to Calgary in 2005, Carma worked as a manager/non-equity partner for a couple of midsized accounting firms, where she provided accounting and tax services to small and medium sized businesses and their shareholders in a range of industries. During this time, Carma completed the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Canada’s In-depth Tax Course, an intense two year course on tax planning strategies for corporations and individuals. She also completed a two year leadership program and taught introductory accounting courses to a number of midsized firms across Western Canada.

In February 2016, Carma started Carma Ainsworth Professional Corporation. She continues to offer accounting and tax services to previous as well as new clients, albeit on a part time basis, which allows her to be mom the other part of the week. Carma lives in Northwest Calgary with her husband Jonathan and children. She enjoys travelling, camping, cooking and hiking.
